Hi,
So everyday I get constant headaches and they never go away. It's basically once they do end up going away they come right back.
I take medicine to help but I don't want to have to take medicine all the time.
Does anyone know why this could be happening to me?
Jess
Have a physical. You might have high blood pressure or something simple like neck stress from sleeping on a flat pillow, but a physical will tell you much.
When you say you're on medicine, are you talking about a prescription one, or over the counter? Only reason I ask is because if you haven't seen a doctor for this, you really should. If you have, what do they say about it? Headaches can be triggered by a ton of things. Have you ever been given a medical explanation for what they think are triggering yours?
I started getting occasional migraines in college. They grew more frequent after I started working in September of 2008, and they became much longer and much more severe after that. I saw three neurologists who either didn't take me seriously or didn't know what to do with me. Finally, I'm seeing a headache specialist who put me on a preventative medicine that seems to be working for me, but we still don't know why I get them.
there are plenty of reasons for having head aches. even though I recommend naturapathy technique and that is a good boob massage for curing, you may have to go take tests and find out the cause for it. are you having cold too?
Raaj.
jess, i know that all too well. I had my very first migraine when i was a junior in college. THe doctor said it was stress-related and that lasted 3 days and no meds helped. not even sleeping in different positions. so for 3 days i couldn't sleep much because i'd be waking up with pain. it was mainly this pulsating pain and throbbing on the left side. Those can be debilitating because it zaps your energy like you have no idea. Even so, noise of any kind would also be disturbing because it makes it worse. Crying can also worsen it, but you can't help it. I was at the point of taking more pain pills than usual because it was that bad. Walking, eating, or any movement was difficult because of the pain. it all started on the back of my head and made it's way to the left side where the temple is. and it was throbbing so bad as if someone stabbed me in the head with a Knife. but ever since i've got them like 3 or 4 times and yes there are a lot of factors like missing meals and not sleeping well, strong perfumes, especially if they're cheap, and sometimes very very loud noise from heavy duty rock music. Mostly i get them because of strong cheap perfumes or even the fumes of nail polish.
I take over the counter meds, but the doctor says it's cause of the muscles in my neck which I really don't get at all.
This has been going on for a while to the point where I have gotten sick.
Maybe a physical would help, thanks
I hope you find an answer and a cure, Jess. I can kind of relate. I don't get migraines or even regular headaches. What i get is these weird tiny headaches that last from 1 second to a minute. And they can be somewhat severe or just bothersome. I know the cause of mine, though. Good luck, Jess!
Okay so if its your neck buy a better pillow. If you sit with your head down, then get a tall backed chair that reaches all the way to the top and rest your head on the chair. Maybe get a massage even and see if that doesn't help.
I find that with minnor headache, I use a cool cloth which has been soaked in water and just put that over my forehead and it seems to work. Or, you can try a icepack as well.
for me, I drink coffee and it usually helps. I also take a herbal medocation called fever few. it has helped me with my headaches
Sometimes it's caffein related. If I am tired, I get them too & sleeping it off definitely helps. It could also of course be tention-related & in that case, a good neck rub & some cold or hot compresses help. I personally notice them more when I'm about to be on my period & sometimes they happen more during this time as well. I'm also wondering if it's due to low blood sugar like when you've not eaten in awhile? It could also be due to dehydration. Sobasically, eat something, have a glass of water, lie down with a warm or cool washcloth over the eyes, have somebody rub your head or neck (or you can do it yourself), go to bed, take a rest with the coffee for a few days or even a couple weeks. Just some thoughts.
None of those things have helped me personally, but I know many of them work for others. I tend to drink a lot of chamomile tea when I have a migraine because it's soothing, but of course it doesn't take the pain away. To the poster who mentioned the Fever Few medicine, do you take it for the pain when a migraine comes on or is it a preventative?
